Passport of Sweden
The passport of Sweden is a document that proves that a person has a citizenship of Sweden. If you apply for a residency programme with the aim of getting a citizenship, acquiring a passport is one of your primary aims.
Sweden's passport is considered to be the 16th strongest passport out of 199 passports of the world. The holders of the passport can enter 127 countries with no visa requirements and in 39 jursidictions they would receive a visa on arrival. In 32 countries, the holder of the passport would still need a visa. This makes the passport of Sweden (and, by default, Sweden's citizenship) stronger than 92% of the world's citizenships.
The passport is valid for 5 years. There is also an electronic, machine-readable version of the document. In Sweden it is issued by Swedish Police Authority, whereas in other countries the issuing authority is Swedish embassies and consulates. The passport of the current format is rather old. It has been in use for 12 years, since 2 January 2012.
