Passport of Ireland
The passport of Ireland is a document that proves that a person has a citizenship of Ireland. If you apply for a residency programme with the aim of getting a citizenship, acquiring a passport is one of your primary aims.
Ireland's passport is considered to be the 14th strongest passport out of 199 passports of the world. The holders of the passport can enter 120 countries with no visa requirements and in 47 jursidictions they would receive a visa on arrival. In 31 countries, the holder of the passport would still need a visa. This makes the passport of Ireland (and, by default, Ireland's citizenship) stronger than 93% of the world's citizenships.
The passport is valid for 10 years. There is also an electronic, machine-readable version of the document. The passport issuing authority of Ireland is Consular and Passport Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The passport of the current format is rather old. It has been in use for 11 years, since 3 October 2013.
