You might need to register for a Ukraine visa in advance if you’re considering a trip there. That isn’t always the case, though, as some nationals of certain nations are permitted to enter the country without a pass for an unlimited period.
The travel policies will be covered in full in this post, along with information on who requires a pass, how to apply, what documents are needed, and other issues.
Visa exception for an indefinite stay
You do not need a permit to visit the country or to stay there indefinitely if you belong to Uzbekistan, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, or Armenia.
Uzbek and Moldovan nationals must be able to demonstrate that they have the resources necessary to support their stay.
Georgia residents entering the country directly from Georgia are just required to present an ID.
3 months without a visa
You can visit the country without a permit and reside there for up to 3 months within six months if you are from “EU nations, UAE, South Korea, Albania, Brazil, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Russia, US, Norway, Iceland, San Marino, Paraguay, Turkey, Tajikistan, Grenada, Hong Kong, or Switzerland.”
If your nation is not included in any of the aforementioned lists, you may need to apply for a pass to enter the nation.
Types of Ukrainian Visa
Three categories of Ukrainian visas are provided by the government:
- C type: Short-Term Visa, also known as a Tourist Visa;
- D type: Long-Term Permit;
- B-type: Transit Pass.
Short-Term Visa
Foreign nationals who want to visit for brief periods are given short terms, which, depending on the reason for travel, fall under the following categories:
- Visiting Pass, for expatriates traveling for a personal trip with friends or family;
- Tourist Pass, for visitors from countries where a pass is necessary but only for tourism;
- Healthcare Service Pass, is for individuals who want and who seek to receive medical care in a facility.
- The Business permit is available to foreign nationals who have to visit for work-related purposes, such as to conduct a corporate event or partake in agreements.
Applying for a visiting pass involves the following steps:
- Print out the completed online application form.
- Assemble the necessary paperwork.
- Pay the processing fee.
- Visit an embassy, consulate, or processing facility to submit your application and supporting documentation.
The processing takes roughly 10 days. They might be granted in 5 working days if you select a rushed or accelerated processing schedule, but the cost would be greater. Nevertheless, the length of the processing period can vary depending on the consulate’s general where you apply. It is therefore advised to apply 10 to 90 days before your intended departure.
eVisa
To streamline the pass request procedure, the eVisa was introduced in January 2019. There is no requirement to go to an office because the eVisa can be obtained online. It grants brief stays of up to 30 days for reasons such as Travel, commerce, personal visits, medical care, reporting and mass media, and events related to culture, sports, schooling, or science.
Requirements
To apply for eVisa, you must provide the following paperwork:
- application form;
- passport and two recently taken passport size photos;
- travel health insurance that pays out at least €30,000 during your trip;
- a statement attesting that you have the resources necessary to cover your stay in full;
- evidence of lodging
- Evidence of paid fees;
- and return ticket.
Travel Advice
Russia started a military attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Numerous regions of the nation, including large cities, are still seeing intense warfare. Every day, there are bombings, shootings, and missile launches. There have reportedly been thousands of innocent casualties. In other places, there are problems with basic supplies and crucial services.
The state of security is progressively worsening. Currently, Ukrainian airspace is shut down. Martial law has been enacted by the Ukrainian government in addition to the emergency declaration. Therefore, it is being advised to delay your visit for a few months and hope for the best.
