Foreigners are subjected to varying visa policies. As a result, a variety of factors influence visa exemptions, the most important of which are the foreigner’s nationality, the applicant’s intended visit to France, the foreigner’s resident status in the Schengen Area or specifically in France, the purpose of the visit, and the length of stay.
General requirements for visa application
- You are required to fill out the visa application online before printing a hard copy, you can alternatively fill out the France Schengen Visa application form electronically.
- Two images must be attached; One must be in passport format, and the other must be a recent full-face shot against a light background.
- Your passport and copies of any previous visas that are valid for at least three months beyond your return date are required. There must be at least two unused pages in your passport
- A copy of your reservation for your return flight. It is not advisable to purchase a plane ticket before acquiring the necessary visa.
- Confirmation of at least 30,000 € travel visa insurance coverage within France and the Schengen area. To apply for a French visa, you must have a Schengen travel insurance policy that is valid in all Schengen countries. The confirmation of coverage letter must be delivered to the French embassy or consulate with the other required documents and the France visa application.
- A cover letter that explains the trip’s objective as well as the itinerary.
- Proof of housing in France for the duration of your stay.
- Civil documentation, including but not limited to the marriage certificate, death certificate of partner, birth certificate of children, etc.
- Subsistence: Affirmation of adequate financial resources for the period of the stay. According to the European Commission, beginning June 19, 2014, any foreigner intending to enter France must be able to demonstrate to the France Embassy or Consulate that they have a daily money amount of 120€ if they do not have proof of pre-paid housing when applying for a France visa. If the applicant has a prepaid hotel reservation, the daily rate is reduced to 65€ for the duration of the covered hotel stay, while the rest is charged at 120€. Furthermore, the charge is decreased to 32.25€ per day if the applicant presents documentation of less expensive types of lodging.
