Non-EU residents are only permitted to submit an application for a temporary residence visa in the European Union if they intend to settle with a spouse, close relative, or family member, study, work, or conduct business in the region.

In 2004, Estonia attained full membership in the EU, which entails that ever since then, their immigration and residency policies have been governed by European law. A residency permit in any one of the EU states comes with a plethora of benefits, some of which include the opportunity to travel to any of the European countries without the need for a visa, access to high-quality and preferential European education, reduced costs of conducting business, the absence of double taxation, and a high standard of living, all of which are things that citizens of any country aspire to have.

The government of Estonia promotes a welcoming approach toward foreign nationals who have an interest in conducting business, learning, or working in the country. It’s feasible to receive a residence permit in Estonia if you register your company as an Estonian one, find work in Estonia, or get accepted to one of the country’s universities.

There is a short-term residency permit that is valid for five years, or in the case of Pakistani students, for the duration of the course that is being taken in Estonia. In addition, there is a long-term resident permit.
