If you wish to move to the country and work, you’ll need:
- A work permit. Your employer should apply for it before you leave your country (authorization to work in Cyprus)
- A work visa. This gives you permission to enter and stay in Cyprus for a long duration (authorization to stay in Cyprus)
- A Cyprus Residence Permit, which you must obtain after arriving in Cyprus if you intend to stay in Cyprus for more than 90 days.
Who Needs a Cyprus Work Permit?
- A Cyprus work permit is required for all foreign nationals seeking paid employment in Cyprus, with the exception of:
- Citizens of other European Union member states
- Citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland (EFTA)
Cyprus is a member of the EU gives all other EU citizens the complete freedom to migrate, reside, and work in Cyprus. Citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland enjoy the same freedom even though they are not members of the EU.
Only if your employer can show that the position could not have been filled by a Cypriot or another EU/EFTA national may you get a Cyprus work visa.
The majority of non-EU individuals who come to Cyprus to work find it easier to obtain work with a foreign company operating in the country.
In Cyprus, the following jobs are eligible for a work permit:
- With an annual minimum income of roughly €41,000, you can work as an Executive Director. A maximum of five foreign executive directors can be hired by a company.
- Middle Management Personnel, or personnel with mid-level qualifications, such as directors, mid-level managers, or technical and clerical personnel, whose salary is between €21,000 and €40,000 per year.
- Supporting Staff comprises individuals who do not fit into one of the preceding two categories, but only if no EU nationals are qualified for the job.
How to Get a Cyprus Work Permit?
You must first have an employment contract with a Cypriot company in order to receive a Cyprus work permit. Employers are responsible for securing a work permit for their employees
Cyprus work permit acquisition procedure:
- Receiving approval from the Cyprus Department of Labour
- Obtaining a work permit in Cyprus by submitting an application to the Civil Registry and Migration Department.ion Department.
Once you’ve secured a job in Cyprus and signed a contract, your company must apply for authorization with the Cyprus Department of Labour.
If your application is approved, the Department of Labor will offer your employer a Letter of Recommendation, which they must use to apply for your work visa.
Your employer must apply for a Cyprus work permit with the Civil Registry and Migration Department after getting the Recommendation Letter from the Department of Labor.
Here are some requirements for a Cyprus work permit
- Application forms are signed and stamped by the employer.
- From M58: application for issuing entrance to Cyprus
- From M64: application for issuing work authorization
- Photocopies of your passport’s relevant pages: personal information, issue/expiry date, previous visas. The validity of your passport must be for at least the duration of your employment
- Your original employment contract
- Police clearance certificate (original) issued within the last six months by police authorities in your country.
- Medical certificate (original) showing Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS, and Syphilis results issued within the last four months.
- Your hiring company’s Tax Clearance Certificate
- List of your employer’s current employees
- A bank guarantee letter (between €350 and €850, depending on your country) stating that your employer (host) has paid the guarantee on your behalf. The warranty must be valid for a minimum of 12 months after you begin working.
- A copy of your health insurance card. When applying for a Cyprus work visa, you must get travel health insurance, and once in Cyprus, you must purchase health insurance for the duration of your stay.
