The Netherlands’ Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) oversees providing immigration services. To move to the Netherlands for education, employment, or other reasons, a Pakistani national must first apply for a visa at the Dutch embassy in Islamabad.
Netherlands visa categories
The country offers four different types of visas. As follows:
Short-term or Schengen
You must apply for a short stay visa if you wish to visit the country from Pakistan for a little period for a vacation, business trip, or family visit, among other reasons. A temporary stay of up to 90 days (for 180 days) is permitted in the Schengen Area, which includes the Netherlands, with a Schengen visa, commonly known as a short stay visa (C-visa). When you enter the country or another Schengen nation, the 180-day period begins.
Transit
This sometimes known as an airport transit (A-visa), is for foreign travelers who are transiting through an airport on their way to a location outside the Schengen region. You are not allowed to exit the airport without it. You must apply for a Schengen visa if you want to leave the airport or continue your trip by car, train, or bus to another Schengen nation.
Return
This type is for foreign people residing in the country who need to depart immediately for a family wedding, an urgent medical appointment, or a funeral and whose residence permit is either missing, stolen, or being processed. Even if your residence permit is lost or illegal, you are still able to travel abroad and subsequently return to the country legally with it. This is only valid in the Netherlands because it is a national (Dutch) visa. You can apply for it at the nearest IND counter.
MVV approval for a temporary stay
Before traveling, you must apply for both an MVV and a residence permit (TEV Procedure) if you need a Schengen visa and intend to stay in the country for longer than 90 days. Although it allows entry into the country, the MVV (Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf) is essentially a temporary residence permit. You can enter the Netherlands as a possible resident rather than a visitor with the MVV. The MVV also enables you to stay while your application for a residence visa is being reviewed.
Application process
You must request in person at the Dutch embassy in Pakistan for your visa
Choose your preferred type
Select the appropriate visa for your travel. Making sure your visit’s objective is clear is the first step. The length of the procedure is decided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which handles your visa application.
Plan the application
You must set an appointment to submit your visa application. All necessary supporting papers must be brought to this visit. A visa sticker will be placed in your passport by the Dutch mission if your application is accepted. It is advised to book your trip to the Netherlands but wait to make any payments until your visa has been approved.
Submit the required documents
Provide a passport or other travel document that is no older than ten years. This needs to be valid for at least another three months after the day you want to depart the Schengen region, and it needs to include at least two blank pages. A completed and signed application form must be submitted. Each travel companion included in your travel documents must submit their application. The parent or legal guardian’s signature is required on all forms for minors.
Obtain your passport
Get your passport from the embassy. You can pick up your documents from the embassy once a decision on your application has been made. You should bring a current ID card and the receipt for the visa.
Traveling to the country is possible if your visa has been granted. If your request has been denied, you will be informed in writing.
