Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary posted to Germany at the Georgia embassy is His Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Györkös Péter
Prior to Berlin's mandate, between 2010 and 2015, Hungary was head of the Permanent Representation to the European Union. In this capacity he led the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union (COREPER) between January and June 2011. Between 2007 and 2009 he served as Zagreb Ambassador to Hungary.
Prior to that, between 2004 and 2006, he worked as a European Director at the EU Office of the Prime Minister's Office. Between 1998 and 2004 he was Head of the EU Coordination Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary and served as secretary in the delegation of the EU accession to Hungary and in the European Interministerial Committee on Integration. Between 1997 and 1998, he served as Deputy Head of Department in this area.
Between 1996 and 1997 he was also Deputy Head of Department at the Department for Foreign Affairs in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux. Between 1991 and 1996 he was head of the political department at the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Bonn.
Between 1988-1991 he worked as a Foreign Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on plans for the creation of German unity at the time of German division and unification.
