Passport of France
The passport of France is a document that proves that a person has a citizenship of France. If you apply for a residency programme with the aim of getting a citizenship, acquiring a passport is one of your primary aims.
France's passport is considered to be the 18th strongest passport out of 199 passports of the world. The holders of the passport can enter 126 countries with no visa requirements and in 40 jursidictions they would receive a visa on arrival. In 32 countries, the holder of the passport would still need a visa. This makes the passport of France (and, by default, France's citizenship) stronger than 91% of the world's citizenships.
The passport is valid for 10 years. There is also an electronic, machine-readable version of the document. In France it is issued by Préfecture offices, whereas in other countries the issuing authority is French consulates. The passport of the current format is rather old. It has been in use for 18 years, since 12 April 2006.
