About the embassy
Spain recognized and established diplomatic relations with the Czech Republic on January 1, 1993, the same day that the division of Czechoslovakia took place. In previous years relations between the Czech Republic and Spain gained in intensity with the restoration of democracy and the fall of communism in 1989. With the new Czech Republic, in these three decades, the relations have increased, especially favored by their accession to the EU. Good Proof of this are the increase in Spanish investments, the remarkable and continued growth of commercial exchanges, the flow of Spanish tourists to the Czech Republic, also the notable number of Czechs who visit Spain, the exponential increase in the teaching of Spanish in education primary, secondary and university, the appreciable interest in Spanish cultural activities and the presence of the Cervantes Institute in Prague.
