Types of work visas to the Czech Republic

Work visas to the Czech Republic can be short-term (up to 90 days), or a category D national visa – for a period exceeding 90 days. A long-term work visa to the Czech Republic is issued if you have already used a short-term visa and if the term of your employment contract involves long-term employment. 

You can apply for Employee card. It is issued by the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs based on a corresponding application and a mandatory package of documents. You can issue the Czech Republic, for a period according to the duration of your contract, but not more than two years.

Obtaining a work visa to the Czech Republic is submitted personally to the regional visa center on a first-come, first-served basis. The greatest difficulty is in obtaining an employment contract and a work permit. It is not enough to find an open vacancy, there must be no applicants for it for more than a month from among Czech citizens, citizens of the EU, and the EEA. Only if the employer entitled to hire a foreigner from a third country.

Visa Fee

A visa to the Czech Republic at the invitation of the employer is issued for 90 days if you are traveling for the first time. The consular fee is 35 EUR, visa center services – 15 EUR.

Right to work in the Czech Republic

To obtain the right to legal employment, you must have:

  • an employment contract with an employer;
  • work permit from the Czech Employment Department;
  • insurance;
  • copies of completed pages of foreign and passports;
  • a copy of the identification code;
  • 2 photos;
  • a questionnaire.
