When a foreigner wants to immigrate legally into a country, and he or she is not a citizen of either by birth or marriage, a Visa must be applied for. Visa is a permit issued by either an embassy or consulate of the desired country that allows a person to enter and leave the country. Not only that, it gives the person access to certain benefits like education, employment, etc… Malta is the largest of the three islands and a place filled with tourists looking to explore the island.

Getting a Visa in Malta is simple but it takes time. Not just anyone can apply for one. Persons looking to travel or relocate to a foreign country are eligible to apply for visas at the country’s embassy or consulate. After satisfying all requirements, they can then be issued a Visa that best suits their purpose. Visa applications can indeed take time to process. However, it is not all visa applications that end up being approved. About 7% or more applicants fail to meet up with some criteria, hence, get rejected by the embassy. This could be a mistake on their part or a result of ignorance, which is why applicants should hire the services of agencies that are experts in the field.

A Visa could be refused or rejected if there’s reasonable doubt about any of the applicant’s documents. A  study visa can be denied when the consular officer or the embassy finds certain illegalities in the documents presented such as forgery of admission letters, certificates, etc.

The following are five of the main reasons why visa in Malta gets denied

Submission of a damaged or fake passport

All passports must be in a good state of use and have at least two free pages for the visa application. For a passport to be valid, it must be authentic and have a deadline of at least 3 months more than required by the visa. When an applicant fails to provide a valid passport, he or she is liable to be refused a Visa. To avoid this problem, it is important to check if there are missing pages in the passport, distorted photographs, damage to the cover, etc.

Lacking a justified purpose and conditions of the stay

Applicants with no valid purpose for traveling are at risk of being denied a Visa in Malta if the embassy finds them unqualified. It’s not just enough to have a purpose like studying, working, or starting a business in a foreign country, an applicant must be able to convince the consular officer that he or she has a reasonable plan of surviving in the country. Also, as an applicant, you need to assure the consular officer that the purpose of your stay will be of benefit to the country. Insufficient or lacking plans for the future might affect the visa application.

 Insufficient means of subsistence

Anyone with the means can apply for a Visa to a country of his or her choice. For European countries, the type of visa depends on the duration of stay. It is best to do research online or be consulting professionals in the field to know which type of Visa best suits one’s purpose. Above all, this is the need for a sufficient means of sustenance in the country an applicant is relocating or traveling to. Without having a source of income or a sponsor paying for the expenses incurred during the stay, the visa application of such an applicant will be denied.

Not Having sufficient medical insurance Coverage

Humans value their health a lot. Sometimes stress, change in weather, exposure to certain disease-carrying germs, etc may result in illness that requires medical attention. Without sufficient health insurance capable of covering all expenses, a foreigner living in Malta or any country at that becomes a burden to the country. Therefore, it is best to have enough insurance coverage before traveling. A consular officer might find the absence of sufficient medical coverage as a reason to deny an applicant being issued a Visa.

False flights and Hotels Bookings

It is possible to get one’s visa denied if there isn’t any proof of a booked accommodation while in the country. Evidence of accommodation is always required by the Embassy during visa application and should this document turn out to be falsified or uncertain, there might be a need to deny the visa.

How to avoid your visa from being Denied

The only way of doing this is to simply follow all guidelines and ensure to submit authentic documents to the embassy. No lies, no falsification. No embassy will deny your visa unless you fail to meet certain requirements or something looks fishy about you.
