Main reasons why a visa can be rejected in France

To enter France, a person will have to apply for a visa at the French consulate or embassy in his/her country.

However, a visa application may be rejected for the following reasons:

  • If the applicant has invalid documents,
    • the official documents have not been translated properly or are not certified, I.E. they do not have a safe way to go and return to the country and don’t know where to stay during the stay.
    • an applicant does not have a travel insurance certificate, this document is essential and allows the person to cover health expenses and repatriate the person in case of challenges that come across.
  • If the applicant has not properly justified the reasons for the trip or if the document provided, does not correspond to the visa application.
  • If the applicant’s travel documents are questionable,
    • the embassy may believe that your passport or any of your official documents are false.
  • The applicant or host cannot afford to pay for the France Schengen visa.
  • If the applicant’s travel history is not correct
    • if you have spent 3 months in the Schengen area in the last 6 months, you will have to wait 6 months to return.
  • If the applicant has had legal problems,
    • the authorities may consider him/her a threat to the security of the country.

If you’re a student, your visa may be refused if:

  • The student has not proven and justified his/her admission to a foreign institution for studies,
    • the student must also make sure that the chosen institution is accredited and verified.
  • If a student’s file doesn’t seem serious enough,
    •  the government may consider that you simply are coming to France for an improper purpose.
  • Other reasons, all the reasons for refusal of a Schengen visa can also apply to the student visa.

How to not get a visa rejection

To avoid the authorities stating that the purpose of your visit is not clear, one is supposed to always attach your travel documents which show all required information, if tourism is taking you to the Schengen zone, write about the sites you want to see and book tours in the cities you plan to visit.

If you have not demonstrated proof of funds, you must be able to present a recent financial statement, or credit card statement. You’re always advised to use a reputable itinerary booking service that will give you legitimate documentation and no risk of losing money on flights and hotels.

An applicant should also be able to provide proof of holding adequate and valid travel medical insurance to successfully get the Schengen visa.

An applicant must also provide evidence that they will be returning and you either own property in your home country or are enrolled in school and have approval for your absence.

An applicant should always ensure that the application is unimpeachable so that if a mistake is made, they have grounds to file an appeal.
