Knowledge of the country
By completing the “Applicant’s Questionnaire,” it is possible to immediately verify compliance with this requirement when applying for citizenship. The district office in the region’s capital, the diplomatic mission, or the Slovak Republic’s consular office are the entities designated by law as the authorities tasked with reviewing applicants.
The applicant’s age, level of education, and health are considered when deciding the best way to test their Slovak language skills. When testing a child under 18, the Slovak language is usually done in front of a legal representative, guardian, or custodian.
A three-member panel will be established for this purpose and appointed by the ambassador, consul, or head of the district office in the region’s capital. During the interview, the candidate will be questioned about himself or herself, and those close to them, and broad questions, particularly on the history, geography, and sociopolitical evolution of the Slovak Republic.
The applicant must also demonstrate during the proceedings that he or she complies with all requirements imposed by the laws governing foreigners’ residence on Slovak Republic territory, public health insurance, social insurance, retirement savings, taxes, levies, fees, foreign workers’ employment, and other obligations imposed on foreigners by Slovak Republic law.
