Romania visa exemptions

Additionally, if you fall into one of the following categories, you do not need to apply for a Romania short-stay visa (up to 90 days):

  • You have a current short-term, lengthy-term, or residence permit issued by a Schengen member state.
  • You possess a current Bulgarian or Cyprus resident permit, long-stay visa, or short-stay visa.
  • You have a current long-term resident’s EC residence permit from an EU member state.
  • You possess a valid, at least five-year permanent residence permit from the UK or Ireland.

You are a non-EU family member of a citizen of Romania, the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland. This only applies to spouses, children younger than 21 years old, and parents who are financially dependent on EU, EEA, or Swiss nationals.

You are only permitted to remain in Romania so long as the Schengen, Bulgarian, or Cyprus visa that you currently possess is still active. For example, if your visa was valid for 20 days but you spent 10 of those days in another country, you are only permitted to stay in Romania for the remaining 10 days of your visa.

The diplomatic mission (or consulate) of the Republic of Cyprus reviews visa applicants’ itineraries to see if they are ready to return home. Visa applicants should take their applications and supporting documents to the Republic of Cyprus diplomatic post (or consulate) in their place of residence, whichever is most convenient. Wherever that is, or whichever nation they plan to stop en route to Cyprus to utilize as a staging area, they will eventually arrive in Cyprus. The visa application fee must be paid in full and cannot be refunded under any circumstance. Payment must be made at the moment the application is filed. At the very least, three months should elapse between the time a visa application is submitted and the planned departure date.
