Norway is highly sought after due to its beautiful scenery, high standard of living, ports, and, notably, northern lights. Annually, thousands of tourists from abroad visit Norway, including a large number of Lebanese. Many people settle in Norway for its heavenly scenery while others for study or work purposes.

A citizen of Lebanon who wants to take advantage of everything Norway has to offer must be aware of the prerequisites and processes for immigration. Please read our comprehensive guide to moving to Norway, which will guide you through the process of getting a visa as well as the advantages and disadvantages of living there.

Obtaining a work visa

Despite the country’s relatively heavy taxation and retail prices, visitors come to Norway for its excellent quality of life. The most recent figures show that roughly 765,000 immigrants resided in Norway last year.

You will require a residency card to apply for a Norwegian working visa. Depending on the type of visa you’re looking for, different conditions apply for a Norway visa. If you are self-employed, you must fulfill specific financial requirements. Qualified employees will need a job. The cost of a visa to Norway for independent contractors and skilled professionals is 5,400 NOK (589 USD).

On the webpage of the Norwegian Department of Migration, you may download the entry form for a working visa in Norway. The qualified worker’s visa is the one used the most by professionals relocating to Norway. Collect and submit the relevant documents along with the request form. Once you’ve filed your visa application, it typically takes one month to hear back.

Skilled worker visa

You can file for a residency card as a qualified worker if you have finished your university education or your career training. Generally, you must already be employed in Norway to file for this visa.

An applicant must have successfully passed a minimum three-year professional training course at the upper high school level, such as one for a teacher or healthcare professional.

The company that has hired the Lebanese candidate must apply on his behalf. Following are the documents that must be submitted by the employee:

  • Company’s registration form;
  • Job contract;
  • Salary details;
  • and employee details.

As long as they can feed them, qualified professionals are permitted to bring their close families. This covers parents, full siblings, partners, kids, and fiancés. You must earn 306,700 NOK to be able to invite your husband or wife into the nation.

Having your family member file for their immigration jointly with yours is the simplest option to invite them along. On this basis, everyone will simultaneously get a response to their visa requests. Normally, it takes three months to receive the decision. A first-time household reunification visa will cost you 10,500 NOK.

Self-employment visa

The qualified worker’s visa previously mentioned encompasses the self-employment visas issued by Norway. It has two distinct routes: independent contractors working for a firm in Norway and independent contractors working for a company overseas. Both positions have the same educational prerequisites and credentials.

Norway’s self-employed visa request procedure is fairly simplified and uncomplicated. Keep in mind that in Norway, any employees who intend to function independently must be at least 18 years old. It is not permitted for students to work for themselves. Requirements for a self-employment visa are the following:

  • Proof of higher education;
  • Passport;
  • Details about business;
  • Financial statements;
  • Required permits;
  • Proof of lodging; and
  • Receipt of registration fees.
